CÔTES DE CASTILLON

This appellation, neighbouring on Saint-Emilion, takes its name from the town of Castillon-la-Bataille, where the Hundred Years’ War came to an end in 1453.
The Côtes de Castillon are a marvellous example of the qualities of wines grown on slopes: wines of character, fleshy, vinous, with a tannic structure that gives them great ageing potential.
These qualities are able to be maintained because of the average size of the individual vineyards maintained by the vine growers.

Château Bréhat - Côtes de Castillon

Château Brehat (2/3 of our production of Côtes de Castillon) is the result of a strict selection, making it a wine that can withstand the test of time.
Its lovely garnet robe is an introduction to its fine floral bouquet, with hints of blackberries and candied fruits. In the mouth, the full body and good structure confirm the fruity aromas before giving way to notes of leather.
The firm tannins bring out all the character of hillside wines.
It will keep admirably – if you can wait that long – but its wonderful aromas can be enjoyed while young. I often refer to château Bréhat as the "friends'" wine as it is so easy to open. It will accompany traditional dishes, either simple or more complicated (beef stew, cooked pork meats, beef casserole, a grilled entrecote steak and, of course, cheese). Whether it be young with fruits or more mature with notes of confit and game, you will be delighted by its harmony and refreshingness.

Bréhat Côtes de Castillon (B.I.B.):

A different concept This wine is available in B.I.B. (bag in box). The wine is contained in a 5 or 10 litre retractable bag which is vacuum filled to avoid oxidation. In the same way, the "stop air system" tap prevents any contact with the air as you fill your glass, carafe or bottle. These two conditions ensure that the wine can be conserved for a long period. A handy practical system (no need for bottling), fashionable (easy to use at meals, for a barbecue, on a boat, etc.) economical (keeps for several months after opening). In short, it can be used everywhere. It is ideal for buffets, cooked meats, cheese. This Côtes de Castillon has the same characteristics as the Château Bréhat, with a slightly less pronounced structure and is lighter and more harmonious.
