Pigeons playing ping pong and egg trade sit-in at Vineyard Campout [Videos]

Pigeons playing ping pong and Egg have teamed up for an intimate show at Jhe loft on Martha’s Vineyard Saturday as part of this year VCampout in the yard. The Pigeons played two headlining sets after Eggy opened the show, and the bands swapped sit-ins, with the PPPP guitarist Jeremy Schon join Eggy and Eggy’s Jake Brownstein return the favor.

After Pigeons kicked off the weekend with the help of Maggie Rose On Friday, Eggy opened Saturday’s festivities with a seven-song set featuring Brownstein on pedal steel for several numbers, including the band’s debut of Gerry Rafferty‘s “Right Down The Line”. Later in the set, Eggy offered another first cover, Duran Duran“Hungry Like The Wolf” by, featuring Jeremy Schon on guitar.

Following Eggy’s set, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong opened their portion of the evening with a jam-laden “Yo Soy Fiesta.” After going through “Hit the Ground Runnin'”, “Whirled”, “Henrietta”, “Let The Boogie Out”, the band welcomed Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein on stage to sit down on “Lightning”. The pigeons then finished the set with a “Julia” > “Beanstalk” > “Julia” sandwich.

PPPP’s second set was filled with jams and improvised sequences. “Overrun” opened the set before a sequence of “Landing” > “Jam” > “The Town”. “Drunk People” then gave way to “Moonwalk”, which was left unfinished as the band followed up with “All Along The Evil Woman”, a mashup of the Bob Dylan-writes “All along the watchtower” and Rated Favorite “Evil Woman”. Pigeons returned to “Drunk People” to end the sequence before closing the set with “Poseidon” > “Beneath The Surface” and “Doc”. They finally closed the two-day event with a “Day In Time” encore, ending the two-day event.
